Job Hunter — Privacy Policy (Chrome Extension)

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Job Hunter is a browser extension that helps you capture a job posting you are viewing and score how well it fits your profile. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the extension handles, why, and who it is shared with. It matches exactly the permissions the extension requests.

Who we are

Job Hunter is an independent project maintained by Gabriel Castro. Contact: gabrielalejandrocastromejia@gmail.com.

What the extension does with your data

The extension only handles data when you take an action. It does not track your browsing, run in the background on pages you are not capturing, show ads, or sell your data.

1. Your account (sign in)

When you sign in or sign up in the extension's side panel, your email and password are sent over an encrypted connection to our authentication provider, Supabase, to log you in. The extension stores the resulting login tokens (not your password) locally on your device using Chrome's storage so you stay signed in. You can sign out at any time, which deletes those tokens from your device.

2. Job postings you capture

When you click "Capture This Job" or "Save without scoring" on a supported job page, the extension reads the visible details of that one job posting — such as the job title, company, location, description, page URL, and (when shown) the applicant count. It sends those details, together with your login token, to the Job Hunter backend so the job can be saved to your own private account and, if you chose to score it, rated for fit.

The extension reads a page's content only on the specific job sites it supports, and only at the moment you click Capture or Save. It never reads other tabs or other websites.

3. Scoring by AI

If you ask the extension to score a captured job, the backend sends the job text and your saved profile to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns a 0–100 fit score and a short reason. Your data is used only to generate that score for you; it is not used to train third-party models.

Who your data is shared with

Your data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the product:

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising or any purpose unrelated to helping you with your job search.

Data retention and deletion

Your saved jobs and profile remain in your account until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email gabrielalejandrocastromejia@gmail.com. Login tokens stored on your device are removed when you sign out or remove the extension.
